Early life and education
Schwab was born in Sacramento, California, and raised in Stockton. He attended Menlo College and Stanford University, where he earned a degree in economics.
Business career
After graduating from Stanford, Schwab worked as a stockbroker at Dean Witter Reynolds. In 1971, he founded Charles Schwab & Co., which later became the Charles Schwab Corporation. The company has grown to become one of the largest financial services companies in the world, with over $4 trillion in assets under management.
