Andy Beshear Opinion On Gun Control

Kentucky Gov. Beshear Supports Gun Restrictions

Lawmakers Pass 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Bill

Beshear: Background Checks, Red Flag Laws Needed

Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky has voiced support for background checks on all gun sales and measures to keep firearms out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. His stance comes as lawmakers in the state consider a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary bill, which would prohibit state and local law enforcement from enforcing certain federal gun laws.

The bill, which passed the Kentucky House of Representatives and is now being considered by the Senate, has drawn criticism from Beshear and other gun control advocates. They argue that it would make it more difficult for law enforcement to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and people with mental health issues.

Beshear has said that he believes in the 2nd Amendment, but that it must be balanced with the need to protect public safety. He has called for background checks on all gun sales, as well as red flag laws that would allow law enforcement to remove guns from people who are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others.

In one of the most personal exchanges of their campaign for governor, Gov. Andy Beshear and GOP Attorney General Daniel Cameron debated gun control measures. Beshear, a Democrat, supports background checks and red flag laws, while Cameron, a Republican, opposes them.

The debate over gun control is likely to continue in Kentucky and across the country. Beshear's support for gun restrictions is a sign of the growing momentum behind efforts to reduce gun violence.
