Marilyn Mosby Former Baltimore Top Prosecutor Sentenced

Marilyn Mosby: Former Baltimore Top Prosecutor Sentenced

Three Years of Supervised Release

A federal judge has sentenced Marilyn Mosby, Baltimore's former top prosecutor, to time served and three years of supervised release. Mosby was convicted in March of lying on a mortgage application in 2021.

Indictment and Conviction

A federal grand jury indicted Mosby in January 2022, alleging that she had lied on the mortgage application by indicating she had adverse financial circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She used the alleged financial hardship as justification for withdrawing money from her city retirement account.

After a trial in March, a federal jury convicted Mosby on charges of perjury and making a false mortgage application. The jury acquitted her on two other charges related to conflict of interest allegations.

Sentencing and Next Steps

At her sentencing hearing on May 23, 2023, Mosby was sentenced to time served plus three years of supervised release. She was also ordered to pay a $45,000 fine and forfeit her interest in two vacation properties.

Mosby's attorneys have said they plan to appeal the conviction.
