Zach Arnett Salary

Zach Arnett's Mississippi State Buyout Details Revealed

Mississippi State Required to Pay Half of Remaining Salary

Buyout terms outlined in publicly available documents

Documents obtained by The Clarion-Ledger have shed light on the buyout terms for Mississippi State head football coach Zach Arnett. According to the documents, the university is required to pay 50% of the remaining salary owed to Arnett, which amounts to roughly $4.5 million.

Arnett's original contract, which was signed in December 2020, was for four years and worth $3 million per season. However, in September 2021, he received a contract extension and raise, bringing his salary up to $800,000. This deal was set to run through January 2025.

The new buyout terms make Arnett the second-highest paid assistant coach in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The only assistant coach with a higher salary is Alabama's Pete Golding, who earns $1 million per year.

Arnett's buyout is a significant financial commitment for Mississippi State. However, it is less than the buyouts of some other high-profile coaches in the SEC, such as Nick Saban ($25 million) and Jimbo Fisher ($24 million).
